Underwater Navigator

Be the scuba diver everyone wants to follow. The PADI Underwater Navigator course fine-tunes observation skills and teaches accurate underwater compass use and methods.

DETAILS

Academic

Students will learn the tools of the trade — navigating with natural clues and by following compass headings. During three scuba dives, students will practice:

Methods to estimate distance underwater

Compass navigation while making at least five turns

Marking or relocating a submerged object or position from the surface

Underwater map making

Equipment

Students will need basic scuba equipment, a compass and underwater slate. When we meet to set up the course, we can discuss other gear thats is designed to help stay oriented underwater, such as marker buoys or lines and reels.
